Border Patrol Education
According to State University, applicants for a border patrol officer position should hold a college degree or have a combination of education and experience. CBP states that the combination of education and experience does not have to be in law enforcement but that it should show the applicant’s ability to make decisions and handle stressful situations. An example of a combination of education and experience would be having two years of college education along with six months of experience. Also, potential border patrol officers must pass the U.S. Border Patrol entrance exam and have the ability to speak Spanish or a willingness to learn. It is a three-part exam that covers Spanish, logical reasoning and assesses an applicant’s past experience.
